We are now back onto the bird room project
what bit of time we had left after the holding flight
we managed to get all the under bearers cut to
length and into place, here is Tom cutting some
of the floor support wood

Here is Tom on my new
toy! as I turned 50!! in
January this year, this
is my birthday present
off the wife and children
it's something I have
always wanted but put
off buying, not only
did they buy the miter
saw I got the stand and
all the optional extras with it, as you can imagine I am well happy with it, this will play a very big part when making the
shed

Here is the ground work finished, the last four blocks
where laid last week, boy am I glad that part of the
project is over, we are now onto the best part the
wood work. The under bearers are
four by three inches thick.

April 13th
Here is a happy bird keeper! Tom was up early today and waiting to and go get his budgies, when Tom got them
home he and his mum took all the ring numbers, sex, and colour's and entered them onto his bird tracker software, so
he knows the age of each bird when it comes to breeding time
Again we had a bit of time at the end of the day to do some work on the bird room, today we fixed all the under
bearers into place with a bit of roofing felt under each bearer where it comes into contact with the concrete blocks
this stops any damp rising onto the wood, on the photo you can see we have also fixed the first four floor
supports ready to lay the 8' x 4' sheets of plywood onto. The sand bags are just there to stop the frame work
from moving out of squareness until there is more weight on the structure. I will be carrying on with this tomorrow.

April 15th
What a lovely sunny day
we have now finished the floor six sheets
of 3/4 plywood to cover the floor, all I
need to do now is attach some wire
mesh to the edge of the floor to fill the
gap between the block work and the
floor, this will stop unwanted
guests like cats and rats from getting
under the bird room, plus it will stop
the children's ball's from going under.
If I can fit the wood onto my roof rack
on my car I will make a start on the
shed construction tomorrow.

April 19th

Yes! you got it rain again!!
I have now managed to build the two sides of the shed, the
photo is showing all four sections stacked on top of each
other two section's pair side, each section is six foot four
inches tall, I have also cut all the wood to make up both
gable ends, BUT! need some dry weather to
put them together.
The whole project is now covered with one big sheet
of plastic and held down with sand bags to stop it
blowing off

April 20th
We got a good start today before the rain started, in fact
I used all the wood up before it started, so I could not do anymore today. The photos are showing us making the
gable ends one with the door way in, not shown in the
photos is the four out of seven roof trusses we also got
made, I am hoping to get to the wood yard tomorrow to
buy the five 4.8 lengths of wood to finish the skeleton
of the shed, I am hoping the few off cuts I have over
will make the windows.
Here is the wet project
from the day before,
I am just having a mock
trial of the sides and
the gable end to make
sure everything is fitting
properly, you may just
be able to see the wire
mesh I put on the base
to stop unwanted
guests from getting under the birdroom.

April 25th
Here we are getting ready for the weekend, all the roof
trusses have been made, and the shed walls have been clamped together to see every thing is O. K before we
start to nail on the 6" ship lap cladding tomorrow, the structure will be taken down while we are hammering
on the cladding, the wood for the roof has been ordered
for next Friday, if all goes well this weekend we are
hoping to erect the shed and get the roof on next
weekend 3rd May
We will move onto page four next week as this page is now getting to long!
