Phase 1 of this project is now complete, phase 2 the outdoor flight will be started next year 2009,
Tom and I need a rest now we have been at it most weekends since February and time for Tom to enjoy his
new bird room, we will be making new nest boxes soon to fit his new cage fronts this will only be a small task
again you can see that here when they are made.
21st August 2008
In this photo you can see we have made four cupboards under the work top for storage plus we have put a shelf in as well,
we are going to put a small fridge in here as well, above the work top you can see the opening windows have got small
hinged wire mesh doors on to enable us to open the windows with out the birds escaping if one should get out.
In the back ground you can see a large rotary perch which turns as the birds land on it, plus Tom made a broom
handel into a swinging perch.
This photo is showing more of the indoor flight tomorrow this will house Tom's budgies.
I meant to say before that! the four cupboards we made we used sticky back vinyl plastic on the fronts, just a bit different
from using paint or varnish. Tom has got his three bags of easy bird wood chipping's ready for tomorrow, I have got
to remove a few bit's of wood and the last of my tools in the morning
This is another view of the aviary with the rack of perches, each perch is 5/8" square.
Here is the bank of twelve breeding cages finished, each cage has a thin pull out perspex sheet separating each
cage, so if Tom wants he can have a double cage or a triple or all four as one long flight, all the cage fronts are very
easily removed for cleaning, plus the perches will drop off when the front comes off, this will allow for easy cleaning
or changing when necessary, again some of these cages will be in use tomorrow.

Sadly as we are at the end of this project there will be one final up-date over the weekend showing Tom with his budgies.
I can now have my bird room back just for my Java Sparrows Yip Eeeeeeeee!!
