Here are some up to date photos of the Agate or it could just be a fawn, I think the parent birds are picking the feather tubes off it's head, if you see the photo below this one, it's a normal chick out the same nest, this has a head of tubes, also see the different beak colour's
Below is a normal out of the same nest

Below is their nest with all five chicks, all the chicks now have rings and are entered onto the bird tracker program

Here is an up-date on the Agate chick, this chick is the smallest in the nest and behind the rest in feathering up,
as you can see in the photo the java is looking like a fawn at this early stage and it still could be a fawn!
Photo 1, Over two weeks ago I paired up a cream hen with a split agate silver cock, they have just started laying
eggs, I have no idea what to expect from this pairing I will keep you posted over the next few weeks.
Photo 2, Today I have been making Tom's budgie breeding cages, in the budgie world they breed their birds
starting late November so the chicks are ready for the 2008 rings arriving (dark blue for 2008)
also they can show their young budgies in the first shows of the new year | Tom's Website |

Up-date on photo 1 above, there is now six eggs BUT! it looks like all six are infertile I will give them a few more days to make sure before I take them away
Agate Up-Date
As you can see the java is nearly feathered up now, I don't know why but they seem to be thin on feathers on the chest bone,
also the two young Agate's I got from the Stafford bird show where thin on the chest bone, this is only temporarily,
the beak is a lovely dark honey colour at the moment.

An up-date on the six eggs! Yes the javas have done it again a full clear round of eggs, I have now taken
their eggs away so they can go a second round of eggs, hopefully a better round!! if not I will split the
pair up and use another pair to breed off.
The nest of five chicks with the Agate have left the nest and are now out with the parents,
all are doing very well.
