My New Bird Room Is Up And Running
A Split Bird room
this bird room is for both me
and my son to breed our birds, Thomas is breeding his budgies
along side my Java's, the photo is showing the two internal
flights there is a partition in the middle separating the java's
form the budgies, the flights are from floor to the roof, I have
cut the two pop holes ready for the outside flights to be built in the Autum this year.
Thomas is just starting to build his website on the breeding of budgies, so far he has put up a front page with more to follow soon
| www.salemsbudgies.co.uk |
The top and bottom of the
flights I have used clear
acrylic sheets plus the partition
has acrylic as well this is
giving good light and vision
also it stops the seed
spreading all over the floor.
This bird room I used one
foot by one foot floor
tiles, I just peeled the back
off and stuck them to the
floor
On the other side of the
bird room is the breeding bank
of cages, I am using all
separate cages this time, I
have been making more cages today, the space I have made
for the cages will hold nine
cages with shelving each side
to put all the bird'dy bits and
bob's, today I have put two
silvers together, and the
split Agates Stuart gave me,
fingers crossed
The lighting is all automatic
using timers to operate them
as in the past the red night
light comes on 10 min's
before the main lights go off.
The fan is timed to come on
at the hottest time of the day
and run until after 6.00 at
night. As you can see I have
put some card half way
around the red light to stop
to much light hitting the flights,
this is only temporary until
I fit a dimmer.
Here is one of Thomas's
ideas a small bird table
to keep the seed off the floor
he made me one plus one
for his budgies, the java's love it
All the indoor flights and cages
I am using dry bird chipping's
Here are two of the four
split silver baby's I bred in
May
Here is my original hen
she has just come out of
a very heavy molt, the two
normal's are showing
signs of a molt to
Here is the new addition to
my stud, a pastel java,
I don't have any history with
this bird as it was from a pet
shop, it's still in quarantine
in an outdoor summer flight,
it's looking in better condition
now after feeding some good food, plus bathing water.

I have just got another three java's

I got all three java's from my usual pet shop, they are all closed ringed so I have a good idea of age
they vary from 2 years to 4 years old, so I can use them now for breeding.
The photos where taken in strong sun light so the colour's are a bit washed,
