I am not winning with this pastel hen at all, I have just looked at their eggs and yes! they are all clear,
I am now going to split the pair up and try her early next year, I will use the cock with another hen
to make sure he is not fiering blanks

The cage is going to be scrubbed out ready for any new Java's because next weekend is the Stafford Show,
this will be the first time I have ever been to the show,
from what I hear from other bird keepers it's the best!

The return of the Agate Java to javafinch.com it was back in 2003 I had one, at last I now have three visual agates and four splits, two are normal splits and I have two silver splits, all three agates are young one's, to top all this
off my normal split agates are sitting on six full eggs, I am hoping to get at least one visual from this pairing
All three photos are of the same Agate as the other two are not fully colored up yet! this Agate is one of
Stuart Drury's birds it's still young and has got a bit more molting to do on the wings
My family and I went to the Stafford Show last weekend to pick up the agates, plus it was a good time catch-up
with my old pal Steve Nesbitt who first got me interested in the Java world,
also the Java Sparrow Society had a big display of Java's for sale there.
Here is a nice big photo of her, I say her because we Stuart and I are 99.9% sure it is a hen.
it's a hard bird to take photos of to show off the head colour, the top photo here shows the dark brown head better,
some photos it looks black, this is why I put her in the outdoor flight to take these photos

Back in March this year I showed you a silver/isabel hen what I bred in 2003, I got her back after a visit to my pet shop, anyway I paired her to a Silver cock on the 29/07/07 she give me five eggs, but only three were full, the photo below is showing her offspring

Good News for a change today seen six out of six eggs hatch from the normal split agate pairing, I am keeping my
fingers crossed, I think there may be a visual Agate in the six, five have the normal dark blue eye's and one has got
pink eyes plus the beak is a lighter colour this could be the one!! both parent birds are excellent javas their nest is kept
clean and the young are well feed, if it is an Agate then this is a first for me.
I will keep you up-dated on the progress of this chick over the coming weeks

Here we are another day, one day your up! next day your down! sad news on inspection of the nest of six baby's
I could only count five, I looked on the cage floor to make sure it was not dragged out of the nest box by the
parent bird, I could not see it, looked in the nest box again, the poor little thing was flattened it had been
trampled to death, the only up side from this is it's not the pink eye.
Hospital Cage Up-date

This hospital cage is now saver than ever to use thanks to the reptile people, reptile vivariums are heated and controlled
with a high-tec thermostat it is so accurate and it is so simple to fit to the hospital cage, there are three wires
1, Mains with a plug. 2, Heater with a three pin socket, this is where you plug the hospital light into.
3, Sensor pop this into one of the holes drilled in the top of hospital cage, Job Done!!
These thermostats come with different wattages the more watt rating the more money they cost, you only need the smallest one, this is the 100 watt and is very cheep to buy it will run your 60watt light bulb in the hospital cage perfectly fine!
The one I am using came off e-bay second hand £7.80 delivered search e-bay under (Reptile Thermostats)
